One example is a Expository documentary, a expository documentary creates arguments and debates. this happens because of features  used to make the documentary. Some of these features are that Voice overs are used to explain what is happening in the scene or a picture and the explanations provides meaning to it. Another feature is that  Facts and perspectives are presented within the documentary by explaining history behind the topic with a caption, this helps educates the audience. One feature of a observational documentary are interviews this allows multiple opinions to represented by the documentary. The third example is a interactive documentary. A interactive documentary makes sure that everyone is involved in the documentary even the director. One feature is that the team making the documentary may be interviewed to give their opinion on the topic. Another feature would be that both sides of the topic are explored in detail however in the editing process a manipulation is obvious as certian answer might be shown to the audience. People involved within the topic would also be mentioned but honesty might not be present. One example of a interactive documentary is out of my window

conclusion

1) What is your favourite format

Interactive is my favourite  format because the audience can learn multiple perspectives of a topuc , Positives and negatives are explored. Different Aspects can also be learned within the documentary.

2)What is the most unbiased format?

Observational documentary  is the most unbiased format in my opinion because multiple angles of a topic are explored in a neutral way and not manipulative editing or cinematography happens within the format

3)Do you feel that the producer has a biased contract with the viewer?

I feel to a certain extent that the topic can vary on controversy also the point of the view has to match with the title. i also feel that interviews have to genuine and authentic and not scripted and i feel that the cinematography should be genuine and the cast in the documentary shouldn't be scripted

Louis and the Nazis

How real did you find Louis and the Nazis ?

I found Louis and the Nazis real and authentic because both sides of the topics were expressed and you can tell that the documentary wasn't scripted. I also find the documentary to be real because you can tell that the documentary wasn't staged because real emotions were present through the documentary. I also found the documentary real because of the professional atmosphere that louis has made.

What did you think detracted authenticity within the documentary ?

I think that there is very little proof to answer this question but I feel that Louis professional personality could of made the family feel awkward and tense. This would make the answers from the documentary not as authentic and maybe censored and maybe answering to their potential to make the family not look as bad as they are.

We are the Lambeth boys

How real did you find We are the Lambeth boys ?

I think We are the Lambeth boys looks Real to a certain extent because I think it looks staged to fit a narrative. Although the Narrative seems authentic to fit the topic of a Teenagers life in the 1950s. Although it looks like it could of been scripted i think again the actors were real to suit the topic that they were trying to represent. .

What did you think detracted authenticity within the documentary ?

I feel like the Aspect of  the narrative and cinematography took away the authenticity because it makes the documentary looked staged but not fully staged. I feel that the scene were all the boys were sat around the table looks staged because it looks it is meant to be part of the narrative and it doesnt provide a authentic atmosphere

Powaqqatsi

How real did you find Powaqqatsi ?

I found it real to a certain extent because the topic of the western style countries was present but i also feel like the plot was lost during the documentary because of how slow the plot and cinematography was . This makes the me as a audience member abit confused because of the lack of knowledge towards the topic. But i also found the documentary real because of the location and action within the documentary.

What did you think detracted authenticity within the documentary ?

I feel that the documentary dragged on because of scenes being long and focusing on the same subject. I think this reduced the authenticity because the documentary isn't gripping to the audience. In my opinion this makes the documentary boring to watch. I feel like the plot is confusing to follow which reduces the authenticity.

Night mail
How real did you find Night mail

I found night rail authentic because it follows the topic without the moving on to something else. i also feel like the scenes within the documentary were made to suit a narrative and a storyline however i still think that the documentary is authentic because the editing just makes it look more organized instead of the scenes being all over the place. I also feel that the editing made it authentic because the topics follow through each other.

What did you think detracted authenticity within the documentary ?
I think that the Narrative structure and cinematography made the documentary look staged but not fully staged . I also feel like the editing might stop the documentary from looking authentic because of the topic being structured rather than a consistent flow through the documentary

Workers Leaving the Lumiere Factory

How real did you find workers at the Lumiere factory ?

I think it looks real to a certain extent because the audience is unaware of the plot of the documentary so the audience has to make a decision on what the documentary so the authenticity is limited  when considering the authenticity . In my opinion it is the audiences decision to make of the what the documentary is about. This makes the audience decide on the authenticity of the documentary as there is nothing to base the authenticity on.

What did you think detracted authenticity within the documentary ?

I think the lack of  knowledge of the storyline reduces authenticity because the audience doesn't know what whether the documentary is being staged or not. The documentary also could have multiple meanings to it, this means that it could be authentic in multiple perspectives because of the unknown storyline
